Located in Edison, Georgia, Pataula Charter Academy, is a state commissioned Charter School serving Baker, Calhoun, Clay, Early and Randolph Counties in rural southwest Georgia. IPG was selected through a competitive selection process to provide Master Planning, Conceptual Imagery, Construction Documents, Construction Administration and Follow-up. Edison, GA (Calhoun County) is in a USDA “Strike Force” area. IPG was able to help facilitate a USDA Loan for the new campus by working with our USDA Contact.
The concept for the school came after IPG did a fly over of the area and noticed a local peanut farm. The idea was then presented to the PCA Board to consider an analogous layout that would look similar to a corporate peanut farm. The silo would be library or reading areas, the long Classroom areas would represent the drying and storage with the Admin area representing the Business Offices.
The PCA campus was designed for a Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade Charter School with a student population of 600 students. The entire academy is focused on an Agricultural track of instruction. Design includes a competition gymnasium with adjacent dining hall, as well as outdoor facilities for football, track, baseball, and softball. The new facility was constructed behind the existing school with special care in the design to accommodate existing operations during construction and totaled 90,418 GSF.
